Level 1 Services
Services will operate with no limitation on seating. Due to reduced passenger numbers during the school holidays, the minimum booking requirement of 2 passengers or equivalent one way fare will remain in place until Monday 10th October. We will not be operating a regular daily service to Christchurch before that date, and are therefore flexible regarding travel times and destinations. Contract tracing requirements mean that all passengers must provide at least 2 of their residential address, email address or mobile phone number at the time of booking. Masks are not required for most passengers, however passengers who have been in Auckland or in contact with someone from Auckland in the last 2 weeks are asked to wear a mask. This requirement will remain in place until there has been no community transmission in Auckland for 2 weeks.
Level 2 Services
We will operate two services from Ashburton to Christchurch Monday to Friday and a Sunday afternoon return service via Methven. This will be subject to demand, services will only operate if there are bookings, and minimum booking requirements will apply. See below under Level 2 Fares for details. In order to comply with social distancing requirements, our capacity will be reduced to 6 passengers, unless passengers are from the same bubble. There will be an empty seat next to each passenger from different bubbles.
Level 2 Fares
Standard fares will apply, however as the capacity of the vehicle is reduced, we will not be offering discounted rates for purchasing 5 or 10 trips while social distancing is required. Passengers who purchased these before the lockdown may use them up. We will still be offering discounted rates for passengers booking 2 or more return trips per week for an extended period. As we will not have any high passenger volume services to offset the cost of low volume services, minimum fares will apply for each return service. These will be $80 for direct return services from Ashburton to Christchurch, and $100 for return services via Methven. An additional $10 is added to this minimum for stopping at the airport. This effectively means that regular fares will not apply on return services with only one or in some cases two passengers booked.
Level 2 Health and Safety
All surfaces likely to be touched by passengers will be sanitised between passengers. This may result in an increased turn around time between trips. While it is not compulsory, passengers are encouraged to use personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves if they have them available. Passengers should wash or sanitise their hands before and after their journey. Passengers who have any cold or flu like symptoms must not travel. In order to minimise personal interaction our preferred method of payment at this time is bank transfer. The account number is 12-3494-0041729-00. We will still have on board EFTPOS available for passengers requiring a GST receipt, but do not accept credit cards. Cash payment will only be available to foreign nationals without a New Zealand bank account. Contract tracing requirements mean that all passengers must provide at least 2 of their residential address, email address or mobile phone number at the time of booking.
